  • Gwen Migita

Gwen Migita is a native of Hawaii who was brought up in a strict but encouraging family, which was heavily molded by native culture and tradition. She holds an MBA in International Business from UNLV and a BA in Marketing from University of Washington. Prior to receiving her BA degree, she attended the University of Portland and studied political science and philosophy in Salzburg, Austria.

Aside from being an avid supporter of WRIN’s mission and of NEW Leadership Nevada, Gwen Migita has had a powerful career in corporate management, leadership and philanthropy which has deeply impacted non-profits and marginalized communities of Las Vegas, Nevada.

Though Gwen’s greatest talents lie in her strong leadership abilities, she champions her role in uplifting Las Vegans and giving voice to social issues. Namely, her role as Vice President of Sustainability and Community Affairs for Caesars Entertainment has empowered her to reach out to underrepresented groups by providing philanthropic monies to them during their times of need.

In this capacity, Gwen identified the Women’s Research Institute and the NEW Leadership Nevada program as worthy and in need of the corporate support of Caesars Entertainment. Having recently celebrated the ten year anniversary of NEW Leadership, Caesars, under Gwen’s direction, has been one of the most committed corporate supporters of our growing program.

In other roles, Gwen leads the Code Green Steering Committee, which ensures that Caesars meets and exceeds the high standards of environmentalism established by corporate investors. Her role is vital in sustaining external relationships with investors and government agencies – which together collaborate to make Caesars Entertainment the most environmentally responsible organization possible.

Outreach to other interests, including social ones, also characterize Gwen’s daily responsibilities. She oversees allocations of corporate funds for charitable giving, a great source of pride and fulfillment for her. Through this program, she has coordinated an internal network of thousands of volunteers within the international Caesars family who promote and strengthen Caesars positive presence in their communities.

Interestingly, Gwen stated in her oral history that she was an avid and very talented professional soccer player in Guam prior to beginning her professional career in business.

Some of the most passionate social issues for her are those that impact women and the LGBTQ community. She also remains involved in her native communities of Guam and Hawaii by serving on boards for youth programs.

Other groups Gwen remains involved in:

    National Park Trust’s Leadership Council
UN Foundation’s Global Sustainable Tourism Council Market Access Working Group
Board of Governors, Human Rights Campaign
    Founder and President, Green Chips

Every year, Gwen is integral in sponsoring the NEW Leadership program through the Caesars Foundation’s corporate philanthropy programs. She manages and maintains Caesars Entertainment’s internship program, a true passion for her. Most recently, she delivered the 2012 Keynote Speech.

Gwen has expressed great pride in the NEWL alumnae she has had the privilege to mentor and desires to continue doing so for years to come.
