The Women’s Research Institute of Nevada (WRIN) is excited to announce that Gwen Migita, Vice President, Sustainability and Community Affairs, Caesars Entertainment, will be the Keynote Speaker at the Tenth Annual NEW Leadership Nevada dinner on May 17 to be held at the UNLV Student Union Ballroom with a reception at 5 o’clock and dinner at 6 pm.
Gwen Migita directs corporate charitable giving, community relations, and the employee volunteer program for Caesars Entertainment. She also oversees community affairs for the Caesars Foundation. She is a graduate of the Executive MBA program at UNLV and received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Washington. Ms. Migita is the founder and president of Green Chips, a public-private non-profit in Southern Nevada that drives long-term social, economic, and environmental goals and outreach for the region. She was honored with the 40 Under 40 award from In Business magazine in Las Vegas and as 2010 Woman of the Year from the LGBT Center of Southern Nevada.
National Education for Women’s (NEW) Leadership is an award-winning program to educate and empower the next generation of women leaders. The Center for American Women and Politics (CAWP) at Rutgers developed the innovative program in 1991. In 2001, WRIN joined the NEW Leadership Nevada Development director and offered the first NEW Leadership program in 2003, The Women’s Research Institute of Nevada at UNLV offers the only site in the southwestern and Rocky Mountain states to host this program. Over 200 women have gone through the program, and this year WRIN is excited to be able to offer NEW Leadership Nevada as a two-credit class.
